And the kitchen sink

Hi Guys
I am currently look for a kitchen sink and was wondering if anyone can recommend online suppliers they have used.
Research points towards going for the brands of Franke or Blanco so that has narrowed it down a bit.
I have normally purchased stainless steel ones in the past but wondering if there is any advantage with ceramic. This will have to be over mount as I will be purchasing a laminate worktop.
Thanks

The downside to ceramic is that it takes no prisoners!. You drop something heavy into it and it will chip or worse!Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

We decided on a Franke sink and looked at the ceramic option. Bit wary of the chipping/breaking possibility, so we went for the white man-made version instead (it was to go on a white laminate worksurface). I do wish now we'd gone for stainless steel, as the white man-made Franke one discoloured almost immediately, and I'm usually good at keeping things clean.0

Franke are a good brand. Their sinks are in most of the commercial kitchens I have been in recently
Stainless steel is much easier to keep clean and re-finish.
Check the draining board pattern and the height profile of the units you are considering. Some draining boards are designed to allow the allow the water to drain, others are designed to look good. Make sure there is a sufficient height difference between the peaks and troughs of the draining channels and the gradient on the draining board is sufficeint for water to run off. Otherwise the surface tension won't allow the water to drain and it will collect in the rims of inverted glasses, cups and mugs.

Why not getting the best stainless steel you can afford?
We have Franke sink and tap which was expensive but as a long term investment they are good. They also do cheaper smaller models.
We got our's without any issues from http://www.tapsuk.com/Five exclamation marks the sure sign of an insane mind!!!!!

Has anyone had experience of composite, as opposed to ceramic sinks? if so, would they recommend such sinks?
Thanks

Over the years we have had stainless steel and white glazed fireclay , both of which became tired over years although the fireclay Belfast sink the lesser. In moving to a new house the Developer had installed a Sand Stone - Composite unit (resin sandstone moulded unit ) We were a bit dubious about this but thought well, if it only lasts a short time we will change it ! The sink has now lasted 12 years and looks just as good as the day we moved in , when it starts to get a bit stained from tea and coffee just put some water in the base with a bit of bleach and BINGO sparkling again. Tough as iron and no scratches at all.You scullion! You rampallian! You fustilarian! I’ll tickle your catastrophe (Henry IV part 2)0

as most people move house every 7 yrs, (on average), a long term investment in a sink is not very clever MSE.
my 30 quid SS sink will last as long as any 200/400 quid franke sink.Get some gorm.0 -
|I love my £150 franke 1 1/2 bowl sink and franke tap which i got from sinks-taps.com I think this was a great price and I dont have to look at or use a substandard cheapy sink every day.
It is lovely and deep and cleans really easily - I also bought top quality german laminate for the worktop rather than spending hours cleaning ceramic or marble, oiling real wood etc.
The quality sink, taps and worktops really lift my "shed" (ikea) kitchen.0
