it's nice that you're so enthusiastic! it'll all come together once you've got that date!

I was the other way round, very determined to have it all quiet and not many people, and no fuss... whoops!

And i agree with what someone else said about colours, don't pick something obscure or you'll have trouble sourcing it! I've gone for dove grey and pale yellow, and whilst i LOVE it, i'm having trouble finding things in those colours, and other people like Mil2b can't quite grasp it. She keeps showing me gold things... NO!!

    Good luck!

  • i got engaged on Feb 2008 and started planning the minute i got engaged just happened the weekend after was a wedding Fayre 2 minutes from my house so i had to go!

it was super fun but i got bored about 4 months before the wedding because I'd planned for so long then i got married and all the planning was for nothing ( the evening reception got canceled due to the snow and the roads to everywhere being closed off!) so I'm doing it again in 6 months.

and i dont often post on her anymore i tend to spend my time if i go on forums on this one - http://z7.invisionfree.com/A_Wedding_Forum/index.php?showforum=5

mainly because it has a general chat and has a lot more traffic and as wedding chat can get boring its nice to just go into general chat and natter and it also has lots of different subcategories on it to and the ladies are super nice, and the ones that aren't you just ignore like all forums :)

i can tell those colours would be lovely together! and can also imagine how hard it is to find the colours....BUT just think, they are colours YOU want, and not many people will have it.

I am going for the 'easy' purple......but im fussy, i want really deep purple like aubergine and a slight splash of bright orange.
something like this.....but darker purple and not as much orange :)

i don't really have the money but luckly the chair cover lady is offering them for free, the dj is free, the vw beetle is just for cost cover of petrol, the church is doing the blessing and bells for free, so all i have to pay for is all the afternoon tea food, (£200) the venue (£100) , my photographer (£100) , candy floss and ice cream lady (£100) and the bouncy castle (£75) and luckly all that extra money has come from the venue that i was meant to have my reception with (£600) ( although I'm not happy as it cost me over £3,000!)

and only go to one or two wedding fayres and don't take the man unless he super enjoys it because he will only moan he's bored haha

Just a note on the wine, our guests aren't really 'wine' drinkers. We asked the venue if we could have a controlled open bar during the meal. Basically we are providing everyone with a sparkling toast drink then 2 or 3 drink tokens that can be exchanged at the bar for drink of choice. The venue are charging us £3.50 per token in the invoice then keep a running tab on the night so we don't go massively over or if we are under we can give everyone another drink.

Its working out about £300 cheaper than the standard wine package but I was more interested in giving people drinks they want rather than saving money.

What a brilliant idea! I'll keep that in mind, although most of our relatives will be quite happy with wine :T

  • dragon thats fab your getting alot for free!! fantastic|! :)

lol yeah my man gets bored at most things....i might take him to just one and we'll go together, and then i think after that if theres anymore ill go with my bridesmaids (which i havent chosen yet....and is a sore subject LOL)

if it was up to my other half he would be making everyone pay for their own drink with their meal!

whilst im here, i may aswell explain the bridesmaid situation.

ok you would think i had the perfect situation, as my 2 brothers have wives/girlfriend and my OH (otherhalf) has 2 sisters......all under 30 and all slim and pretty.....BUT as its the usual thing of bride having to pay for bridesmaids stuff (i couldnt possibly ask them to pay themselves as im not that type of person) so i ideally only wanted two bridesmaids....my SIL and my other brothers girlfriend....but if i only have those two im going ot get some stick from the MIL as to why i didnt choose OH's sisters. Its not that i dont like OH's sisters...i get on well with them, but i rarely see them, and i want my bridesmaids to be someone who im comfortable with...if that makes sense?
plus they are dead skinny and glamourous PMSL

  • ask the two you want, you can't please everyone all the time and when they ask just explain that you are on a really tight budget and you want your bridesmaids to be people who can be heavily involed, maybe make them a reader or a witness at the wedding so they feel involed still x
