i thought about not asking family at all....so i got out of it. but i have no friends PMSL.....it sounds really sad!! but im a stay at home mum with a cake business which means im almost baking 24/7....i dont see anyone for weeks on end apart from family, and as you can guess dont have the time to go out and meet friends LOL all the 'friends' i did have i rarely see so would be abit weird asking them to be bridesmaids out the blue!
i just feel really bad for his youngest sister (18) who will probably expect to be asked.....i feel like such a meany!

No-one should 'expect' to be asked though, and you should never feel pressured into asking every female member of both families under 30!
I second fly's suggestion to ask those who can't be bridesmaids to do other things - maybe even be ushers? That's getting quite common now, after all there's no reason that ushers HAVE to be male...
My situation is that I have one sister, as does H2B, and neither are being bridesmaids - both live a long way away, and although I love both dearly I am not close enough to H2B's sister to ask her, and my sister is not the 'bridesmaidy' type. She also knows that I am not asking her and is quite happy with it. Instead I am having my best friend of 25+ years as my MoH. That's it
If anyone doesn't like it they can go fish...

thats lovely sapphire, at least u have a best friend!! LOL
sounds lovely
i know what u mean about not the bridesmaidy type! i was bridesmaid at my bros wedding and found it all very stressful LOL
also though....i have a one year old daughter who will be old enough to walk n talk by the time im married! LOL, and both my SIL and brothers girlfriend are expecting babies in april and june this year. would be nice to have the kids (depending if they are boys or girls!) included in the wedding...but again it seems to be all my side of the family! LOL
OH might be choosing his dad as best man.....which might cause even more upset as his mum and dad have split up and theres abit of rivalry going on....plus hes not his real dad, and he doesnt want to feel like hes rubbing his mums nose in it by choosing him!
arent weddings so hard!!?? LOL:dance:

Traditionally bridesmaids come from the bride's side anyway...as I had pointed out to me at my first wedding when I had my OHs 4 nieces as my BMs. I didn't have any females on my side, and my best mate who was going to be chief bridesmaid went on a round the world trip and ended up staying an extra 4 months in Australia so missed the wedding! Choose who you want...you're the bride, they're your maids!0

Nice one trollydolly....considering how booked up they get it's amazing how people still look so surprised when you tell them where you're getting married. My friends daughter gets married there in June this year so I'm cribbing off her at the moment. And our photographer has done a couple of weddings there in October and around New Year so I've been on his site to look at the pics....be a bit different for us though as we're only there in the daytime so no safari
