Tax Credits question...

hi.

As some of you may know i live on my own with my son. What i am wanting to know is if/when i meet someone will my tax credits be effected if they stay over..?. Say they stayed with me 4 nights from seven..?

    it depends really. if you're financially tied then yes, you'll be assessed as a couple. if there are no financial ties and she isn't living there then no. Financially tied includes buying food to eat together and letting her wash her clothes at yours without charging for electricity or soap powder.

    So even if she's not the parent of my child, by having her there would have a baring on my tax credits. Do they take her wages etc into account then..?

    Sorry i can't remember what the forms ssay otherwise i wouldn't be asking :)

    if you were deemed to be 'living as a couple', the fact that she isn't the mother of your child has no bearing.
