Claims of "my mate got some prog of the web that can get into wireless secure networks by interrogating the wireless router, analysing the answers from which they/the prog can work out the wireless key".....
More interweb forum b***lcks or some degree of truth depending on what level of security the wireless is set to?

Yup it can be done against WEP secured networks in a matter of minutes, no matter the network key complexity (I've done it before following some simple instruction on youtube).
Plus simple WPA-PSK network keys can be cracked in a few minutes using an Amazon E2 cloud service. The length of time goes up if using a long, complex network key but with that amount of power available to crack it then it's not unachievable.0 -
He must be using a netbook ( he quotes "a matter of hours to hack in") My desire mobi can hack into a Thomson router in minutes , unless of course the owner has changed to WPA2 and the password from default, then it takes seconds ..... I ring up the neighbour and ask him what it is:rotfl::rotfl:4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Yes it is possible to hack WiFi and the means of doing so are but a quick google search away.
That said there really is little need to - plenty of wireless routers are left completely open anyway though ignorance. If you have an Android phone install WarDrive and take a walk around your neighbourhood with it running - a real eye opener.0 -

Cheers. Hadn't seen this. Not available to the public yet, but I'm sure a clone'll show up somewhere in the next few months.mr_fishbulb wrote: »Plus simple WPA-PSK network keys can be cracked in a few minutes using an Amazon E2 cloud service. 13gb wordlist available though...could be worth checking your own wireless password against it just in case..0 -
