Take a dump in the office and see how quickly they let you have toilet breaks excluded from it (or sack you and have a satisfying story to tell).

Hilarious! Would love to have the guts to do that (excuse the pun!). Sometimes you just need to take a bit longer in the loo. I am not joking but you had interviews with the supervisor to explain why you were 26 seconds over on your break allowance. Er, cos I had a vindaloo last night. Or how about I needed to go to the toilet, have a coffee and ring to check my kids were ok. Is that flipping well ok with you? Cos, while I'm sitting here talking to you about this crap (again, no pun intended), I could be answering calls.

    Hmphhh..

While I've never seen anyone use a brussel sprout before I have been in interview stages where they have picked a random object and asked me to sell it to them. It is mainly looking for you to be able to promote the features/benefits of a product so whatever they give you just think for a minute on those and try and act confident. A lot of people will just um and er so even if you think what you've come up with is silly then it'll be better then nothing.

What a load of old codswallop. This would totally put me off the company. Though realise in these hard times one can not be too picky.

    I hate this management-spiel gobbledegook.

    Spot on!!

I'd tell em where to shove their job (and their Brussel sprouts), working for someone who takes this ridiculous approach to filtering candidates will not be pleasant at all!

"If you were a fruit/vegetable/animal, what would you be and why?"

I'd be a snake, because i'll happily go about my business with the greatest of efficiency :) until some f*cker steps on me!!!

  • It's a test to see how well you can think on your feet. They are wanting people who can think a bit outside the box and bring a dfferent viewpoint to a situation not just another drone who will follow a procedure mindlessly. If you just think of it as rebranding a brussel sprout then you are missing the point it's a metaphor for how to sell something that is traditionally seen as boring. If you can't get past the brussel sprout part then you are probably not the right person for that company.
There's no sense crying over every mistake.
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

I have done the group interview for Admiral before (successfully). Trying to think what happened now...

Firstly you'll get a presentation, then you will have to introduce another person to everyone else (obviously after speaking to them and finding out things to say), then you'll be put in groups and given a scenario (ours was we were stuck in a car in the snow 5 miles from the nearest cottage, do you get out or stay put, which items do you use out of a selection, etc) and lastly it was a negotiation exercise which I thought was the worst part. There will two groups, one of ours was the agents of Jennifer Aniston whilst the other group (my group) were producers of a film, we were to negotiate terms. That one was a bit scary because you HAVE to find a time to speak up even against the loudest of the bunch.

At the end you'll be told straight away if you pass and will be given a time for your interview, only 2 out of the... 15ish of us didn't get through this stage.

    Good luck!

EDIT: Oh there's a test on the presentation, take notes. Here's a hint, make sure you remember the names of the people who are running the day ;)
Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.

It may be just a sprout to you, but it's a full size cabbage to an elf.

Is it for their Cardiff office? I work for one of the top insurers but not in a call centre type role and deal with Admiral's motor insurance call centre all the time. It's my favourite one to call, the staff are the friendliest I've ever dealt with!

    Good luck! :)

    Hi,
I have an interview this friday and found this great help, I was just wondering what kind of answers they were looking for, could you give any examples please. I've never had to really negotiate in a job role either, is there an approach, phrases you would recommend, where do you draw the line on being friendly and greedy? Please help
    Many Thanks
