Can be worth getting but a cheaper & easier option is handlebar muffs which will keep the wind & rain off the back of your hands too, though I have to admit they're not exactly cool-looking they do work very well. Motocross-style handguards will do the job to a lesser extent if you've got the sort of bike that will take them.

Main thing with heated grips is having to wire them in to your bike's electrical system which isn't a big job in itself but the grips rarely come with adequate instructions for a newbie to do the job themselves, so you might need to get a mechanic to do it if you haven't worked on electrics before.

You can choose from the permanent grips which replace your old grips or the wraparound type which go on top of your ordinary grips so you can take them off in the summer. Bear in mind if you choose the latter that they will increase the circumference of your grips and may make control of hand levers difficult if you have small hands. Get ones with temperature control as well as an on-off switch.

    Hope this helps

I was after These So fits what you've said, I've also been warned that it could put a strain on the generator?
  • if the bike is big enough it wont be a problem with the generator

i knew a dispatch rider once on a 125 that used to ride around with bare hands in winter as the combination of muffs and heated grips made it too hot to ride in gloves
    speed is good

When I used to commute in London,I fitted handlebar muffs and they were brilliant. But they kept getting nicked and the hassle of taking them off and putting them back was too much,so I gave up. And froze.

Have a word with Nick @ http://www.forcemotorcycles.com he knows his stuff!

They sell mostly Police & MOD bikes, but spares for some machines, too.

I don't envy ANYONE on a bike these days - ESPECIALLY when it gets chilly!!
