I wanted to share my experience with collecttoymaniac .com
I ordered an item that they said was in stock but then sent me an email saying it was out of stock and would i like a different item.
I said no I would like a refund and I wanted to know why the item was listed as in stock when it wasn't.
I got no refund and so emailed again and asked for an update still got no reply.
Thankfully I paid via paypal and was able to open a dispute with them i sent the following message to collecttoymaniac via paypal
"Dear Sir/Madam.
On the 26/12/2010 I placed an order with your site. collecttoymaniac.com order number 1322656.
I received the following from you in an email "Hi the item you have purchased is currently out of stock is their an alternative we can send
regards collecttoymaniac "
the sent the following reply "Dear Sir/Madam
Thank you for you below email dated 6/01/11.
In response no there is no other item i would like as a replacement so please can you refund me the money.
Also I am appalled at the lack of professionalism show by collecttoymanic.com when I placed the order the item was clearly stated as being "in stock" now i have to shop around for a replacement so i don't think attempting to purchase another item from collecttoymanic.com would be wise.
regards
Mr J Tebby"
Having herd nothing and having not received a refund i sent the following email " hi can you please let me know the status of the refund i requested for the out of stock item order no 1322656
regards
MR J Tebby"
I have however still not herd anything and not received my refund and having looked into the matter this could be construed as "Bait Advertising" and is against trading standards regulations I would like my payment REFUNDED ASAP!
Regards
Mr J tebby"
and the response I got was
"Lo bait advertising , you been watching too much watchdog, look its beyond our control when an item goes out of stock, we sell on other platforms so its first come first served its not like your buying a readily available item as it was discontinued 2 years a go, good luck buying it elseware you will get it in america but of course it will turn up smashed to bits seeya"
how on earth is that a professional response from a company?
I find it appalling that company's can respond to their customers like this i wish there was a higher power i could report them too.
I got my refund though and i will not be shopping there again

they have a point sometimes it tkes a while for a website to be updated but the payment process is automated so maybe they took too many orders. You got a refund so thats it really. Dont shop there any more"If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0

One is cautious in the instance of one time posters0

it's not so much that the item was out of stock its the lengths i had to go to to get a refund they should have offered em one stright away0

I have to agree with original poster. I tried to buy a superhero figure from collecttoymaniac. Payment was taken but no figure arrived. Took 3 months to get my money back. Item had seemingly never been in stock. David sloss, who runs collecttoymaniac, was very slow to respond, and very uncommunicative. Would never ever attempt to buy anything from him again. Absolutely rubbish time i had.0
