    Hey Singletons, this thread has had me in stitches! Can I join? :)

    Am currently on E-Harmony, with mixed results. I think a lot of my matches aren't paid up members - you can always tell because they can't check out your profile if they haven't paid. Anyone else finding this? :D

    There's a very good article somewhere (maybe even referenced earlier in this thread) about paid sites. How many people they 'claim' you will have access to and how many are actually active or paying or active and paying. It's basically very small.

    I am making tentative moves on OK Cupid but have no job at the moment so not really keen to get into a relationship unless it is with Warren Buffett or Sam Branson or George Clooney ( I hear he is single again!)

  • hey all. Can i come join the fun??!! Split up with my daughter's dad over a year ago, joined plenty of fish, met someone, had a short (6ish weeks!) relationship with someone from there that ended back in may and tbh would really like to meet a nice young man now lol. Am talking to 3 guys at the moment but not holding ou+t much hope, seem to attract the weirdos for some reason (not sure what that says about me lol)

    Oh, don't worry about that at all! At least you're looking for a job. If you don't want to stand out with those who aren't looking - wear some burberry...

    You'll probably have to join the end of the queue for that one.

    Everyone says they attract the weirdos. I think the only thing it says is that there's a lot of weirdos...

    Probably not a reflection, more a reflection on POF. I went on dates with a number of weirdo's from that site and went out with one very nice man for 6 months.

    The weirdo's;

    1. Local Authority IT guy, dressed smart casual i.e. suit and trainers. Took me to a tapas bar but didn't like foreign food and took me to a pub but didn't like alcohol. Was also put off by a dog trying to shag my fur coat.

    2. One guy who clearly thought you needed a passport to get out of County Durham. Didn't like Arabs, Italians, the Irish and Americans. Has not been to any of these countries. Seriously considered drowning myself in my pint.

    3. One guy whose photo taken side on climbing was clearly at LEAST 10 years earlier. There were only 3 people in the pub (1 was behind the bar!) and I still didn't recognise him.

    4. A guy who started touching me up within about half an hour of meeting me and is still sending me texts 2 years later. I really would have thought sending a text saying 'Rick, I hope you have a nice life and all that, now please just F**K OFF' would have given him the hint.

    No it's not you, it's POF, in trawling all the fine Cod and supreme Haddock it also drags up all the crap and bicycles off the bottom! (It's one of the joys of a non-paying site).

    You do get to have nice chats on dates though about the weirdo's you meet - like the woman with the bath in the front garden and an axe in the living room!:rotfl:or the one who engineered to miss her bus so she could have to stay the night.

    Actually I don't think the paying sites successfully filter out all the "gifted" ones either. They're just a bit rarer.

    That should be entertaining - I know I've laughed at this - lots...

    I don't have any horror stories. I guess that makes me the horror story... :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

    Anyone else having any luck? I'm currently trying to get a friend to fix me up with a brewer. We shall see if I have any success!
