Scottish Power Online Energy Saver 12 - How do you apply for it?

Whilst trying to help a fellow MSE'er, I came across the Scottish Power Online Energy Saver 12 tariff, which when I checked for myself would also save me a few bob

So I thought I should do a switch. But how?

The tariff is shown on the Scottish Power website
http://www.scottishpower.co.uk/products/online-energy-saver-11.aspx (ignore the website address - the page is now about version 12)

It says you have to apply online.
I try that, and it after I've input my details etc, it offers a range of tariffs, but none are the Online Energy Saver 12

Anyone know how I can get on this tariff, please?

Hi Premier - thanks for replying to my thread.

Not all tariffs are available in all areas of the country. Try putting your postcode into the comparison engine on www.energyhelpline.com and see what you are offered. If it isn't in the list of options, then I guess it isn't available to you unfortunately.

Yeah, it's on the list on energyhelpline (as it is on other comparison sites) for me in my situation in my area. (But energyhelpline doesn't allow me to switch via them - it says I have to apply directly)

But the Scottish Power site won't offer me that tariff :(, and it has to be applied for online.

Edit: Ah, think I've sussed out what's wrong. It doesn't appear to allow applications unless I'm already a dual fuel customer. Unfortunately, I buy my gas & electric from different companies at present.

Perhaps I should move my electric away from Scottish Power so I can then get the tariff I want? :D

Edit 2: Nah, that won't work either. Looks like they only accept switch applications from customers from the major 6 suppliers. Oh well, Mr Levermore may well be getting my electric business back after all if Scottish Power want to be like that. With their (SP) recent price rise, Ebico are on a par with what I'm currently paying to Scottish Power.
Think it's time to switch to avoid the latest SP price increase (as they haven't officially notified me about it yet) - that'll be fun, they never hold the prices despite the terms saying they should.

Edit 3: Just tried to see if they would accept me if I was to transfer my gas to them first (so then they would had both gas and electric business) but the tariff I want is for "brand new customers only" it appears
Ah well, I know when I'm not wanted somewhere...

I've been looking into doing the same - it is too early for me to phone up Scottish Power as I'm still on their fixed price 2011 rate, but I will be interested to see if you manage to get on this tariff.

I gave them a call; they said I could have it :j

As their website wouldn't give me the option of applying, they agreed to sign me up over the phone :)

That's good to know - hopefully it'll be straightforward enough when I come to changing my tariff.

Hi all I'm considering this one as well and spoke to them on the phone about it today. I'm on the Fixed price 2011 online tariff and they advised that would be fixed until the end of February. They also suggested staying on this tariff until it finishes to last out the winter costs as much as possible. I pay £65 a month now for electric and gas together and they said switching to the Online Energy Saver 12 plan would mean paying £1 less a month based on my usage. They said I could swap to that plan if I 'asked for it' but my online account also only gives me the option of switching to the 4 capped tariffs (capped with SC and NSC and the Platinum capped SC & NSC).
I know the Online Energy Saver 12 can go up in price as well as down but it's still a fair bit cheaper than their current capped offers and they had their price rise only a couple of months ago so thinking they might not have any for a while now...
If I also wait till the end of the 2011 fixed tariff there's a chance the OES 12 tariff might have ended but also that there could be new tariffs available...possibly cheaper or fixed at a similar rate...

Hi, we are in the same situation and after doing the figures last night decided OES 12 would be our best option. Don't seem able to get the offer up now when we try again. Is it still available and do you think it would be wise to try and change now before current deal is over.

As explained on the other thread, it for some reason is not being offered on the Scottish Power website if you fall into either of the following categories:

    1. You are not a current dual fuel customer i.e. you currently have different gas & electric suppliers
    2. You are already a customer of Scottish Power, even for just 1 fuel.

But I was informed these are not restrictions to obtaining the tariff and so were put down to a issue with the website.

    I used 0800 400 200, option 2 :)
