Finally decided on DR for our family holiday in August. Looking at Dreams Palm Beach - seems to be a First Choice exclusive any one any ideas on where I can get alternate quotes?
Other than that, opinions please, places thing to do and particullarly things to avoid!
This is a holiday of a life time and our sons second trip abroad, won't be able to afford this again so want to make the right choices!

The worst time of the year for DR, very humid and in the huricane season. December to April is the ideal time.0

Whay has made you decide on DR, I thought you were interested in Sri Lanka but now I see you had also wanted to to go to Barbados?
Perhaps you could update your other threads so that people know not to take the time to provide information unnecessarily?0 -
Not sure weatherwise re what travellerboy said, we went to Dominican in Nov 2009 and LOVED it, it was the most amazing holiday. We stayed at the Riu Bambu in Punta Cana which was fab, right on the beach. We went on the outback trip where they take you out to see coffee/chocolate being farmed and coconut oil being made, you go to a school, a nature reserve and for lunch then in the afternoon they take you to a deserted beach for a swim, all the while filling you up with copious amounts of "cuba libre" (sprite and rum - very VERY nice!). The other trip we did was a 20minute helicopter ride, not cheap at around £280 from what I remember but worth every single penny.
Have fun out there, it's absolutely amazing!Sometimes you have to go throughthe rain to get to therainbow0 -
Agree with Incapuppy, you don't need any advice, pick your holiday and just go and hopefully enjoy yourselves.0

ps - Forgot to mention that Sandflies, not mosquitoes they come at night, are are big problem in DR on the beach, especially just after in has rained, which is guaranteed to happen in August.0

It's been the great advice on here that has made us rule out Barbados and Sri lanka and those who have helped have been thanked accordingly - thought that was forums were for? If you think I am wasting your time, please feel free not to reply0 -

If you read my post again I am suggesting that it would be polite to update your other recent threads to advise that you no longer require information about those particular destinations.0 -
Apologies Incapuppy, have done as you suggested, still fairly new to new to this0

Make sure you're on the Caribbean sea side rather than the Atlantic - which isn't as nice.
We've stayed at Bavaro - white sand and turquoise waters.... aaaaah!0
