New washing machine with dent!

I have bought a new washing machine from curry's today. We got it home ourselves in a van. When it was unpacked it had a big bash along the right hand side near the top. It was where the polystyrene went over it!
But from looking at it all wrapped up you could not have seen it. My husband took a photo and went back to Curry's to show them.
The chap agreed it was bad and said the manager was not there but to call the number on the receipt and they would arrange an exchange.
I have called the number and basically they have said no exchange as we bought it home ourselves and as it is in shrink wrap we should have spotted it. I pointed out there was no damage to the packaging and you could not see the damage till it had been unwrapped and the damage was under the polystyrene lid. She has offered £50.
I have not damaged it. But my concern is if it goes wrong will the manufacturer say oh but its damaged and that means its not covered by any warrenty.
I am really cross.

Hi I was a sa at curry's. Unfortunetly you are not insured for any damages if it gets damaged whilst you transport it home yourself. But the damaged could have happened in the warehouse and it has not been adequatly wrapped. I would personally insist an exchange or refund from the manager. If that is refused return the washer back to the store and refuse to move till they refund causing embarressment or if that fails contact head office0

If the damage is not visable when installed personally i would take the money £50 is a good amount, it wont affect the guarantee0
