in Credit cards
Hi guys,
wondering if anyone can help. I can't get a credit card anywhere now. after 7 years of having a PERFECT and i mean PERFECT credit score i have since been declined 4 cards in the past fortnight.
When i looked on experian it says cause of a default at Vodafone.
to cut a long story short, an account was opened up miscellaneously and before i knew it i had debt collectors ringing and sending me letters. I obviously refused to pay as it wasn't my debt and when i got in touch with vodafone they said they'd pass on to the fraud team and get back to me in 2 weeks.
NOW...8 weeks later i cannot get credit and today noticed on my credit history record a default with vodafone.
PLEASE somebody tell/advise me how i go about correcting this?
many thanks in advance

Did you opened the Vodafone contract?"We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0

stop applying for credit for one, every search costs you 25points, dispute it wi CE they will contact VF for you but you should still write your concerns in a letter to VF. takes a while to remove even if your right, took me 12 yrs after ID theft to have my record cleared. good luck0

What do you mean by that? Do you mean someone opened up the account in your name? and you had no knowledge of it?
What did you do when the first statement from vodaphone arrived?
If you didn't contact vodaphone until after debt collectors contacted you (which would have been after several statements and reminders had been sent) then you can see why they might take longer to investigate.
When did you speak to them and when did they say they'd get back to you in 2weeks? when they didn't did you chase them up?
Until the matter is resolved then you won't get the default removed and you probably won't get any new credit. You will have to wait while they carry out their investigations and keep on at them to ensure they are progressing things.
The fact that you have applied for 4credit cards in 2 weeks will also make you look desperate for credit, so even if you get the default removed you may find it harder to get credit until the searches are 6+months old (and of course its harder now than at any point in the last 7 years).
Plenty of people with perfect credit scores cannot get any additional credit now. These scores does not take into account all that a potential lender does.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

yes. i worked at vodafone so i fear someone stole my identity after i left an opened a staff account and never got any bills and only after 6 months did a direct debot come out of my account. which i stopped and got an indemnity claim for. but by the time all this had happened they sent me a letter to say the acc was closed and passed to a debt collector.
Ever since that (4months ago) i have been playing cat and mouse chasing both parties to try and resolve and heard nothing for 4-5 weeks until this now which has obviously been a complete pain in the a***.
So do i contact vodafone or the debt collector and who officially can lift that default from my credit record?0 -
It can only be lifted by whoever's name it is in. If its in vodaphone's name its them. If its the debt collector its them.
If you have been doing most of this by phonecall I would suggest you switch to letters so you have proof of the conversations and you trying to sort it.
I'd write to them set out all that has happened so far and ask them to update you within say 2weeks.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
