We had a BT router for internet access and about 1 month ago the connection started dropping out at odd times i.e no pattern to it, bt said there was a fault on our line and repaired it, the problem is still happening. Bt now say it is our router, so i have installed a different adsl router but the problem is still there. I have to uplug the plug in again the phone connection to the router to regain connection. Has anyone any ideas please?
thanks

Is it wireless, which router do you now have?
Do you have filters on all your phones?
Is BT your isp?Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
yes bt is our isp and the current router is Zoom X4

Provided that you have put filters on all phones, and the wires are ok, it is probably a BT issue.
Rather than pulling the lead out, you can achieve the same effect by switching the router off and on, or you may be able to go to http://10.0.0.2, and do a disconnect/reconnect. There should be some diagnostic info on the router screens that may help identify the issue.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
do you connect via USB to the router ??
or purely via a wireless USB adapter ??
I wonder if it cannot draw enough power from the motherboard ??Ex forum ambassador

Two simple words here..... British Telecom.
They are at best, utterly usesless. Switch if you can.
Myself and my clients have had countless problems with BT throughout the years."Holding On For Dear Life" - read my true story of when my fiance suffered a stroke exactly 3 weeks before our wedding.

They are so bad they are No.1 supplier
I would phone them up and ask to boost the gain on the line. (may help)
