No serial number my electricity meter = no power :(
Hello everyone,
Been trying to solve a problem with no success the last few days.
I've got a property which has previously been disconnected and which I am trying to have reconnected. However there is no serial number on the meter and I do not have any information on the previous suppliers.
Is there somewhere I can get the meters serial number or MPAN from?
It's not made any easier by the fact that the house is a 'ghost house' and does not appear on the royal mail address finder!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

You need to contact your area's network distribution company which can be found on the national grid website. I can't post a link so if you google national grid .com then find metering or contact my electricity supplier
Hopefully this will help. I did the same when I moved into my flat as I didn't know who the supplier was. The network supplier should tell you who looks after the billing (npower/british gas for example) then you can contact them and either choose to stay with them once reconnected or use a comparrison site to find the cheapest in your area. if it's a prepayment meter try and get it changed as they cost a fortune - my sister is paying about £75 a week on one of these for a 2 bed small house compared to my £40 per month for a 4 bed house!
Also beware as sometimes suppliers try to charge you for the previous tennants unpaid bill. Take a meter reading and keep it safe - a picture on your phone perhaps as proof.0 -
Find your district network office below.
as for having no serial number on the meter it should be on by a barcode.
