identity theft

I have been contacted by ebay saying that i had listed prohibited items:eek::eek: ( i have not sold on ebay for over a year!!) when i went into register my account had been suspended. I have received further emails saying that someone has used my account without my knowledge and changed the email address. Ebay say that they have suspended transactions but when i changed all my security details and went to my ebay it shows that an item has been purchased from my account and payment has been made to another email addressee am i liable for this i am also concerned about the individual who has bought this item thinking it was from me. Can i now close my account as i have lost faith in ebay and security of my username. BTW ive gone into paypal changed my security and cancelled DD just in case!!

    And speak to ebay direct.

It's understandable that you want to close your account, but you have to make sure ebay know that your account was hijacked.

At the end of the day, you don't want to be held responsible for the fees, or for people being scammed.
