Payment Protection on a Nil Balance

Hi can anyone tell me why i have been charged 44.99 payment protection charge on a nil balance and can they do this. i have not taken out any protection policy

    Presumably because you signed the agreement to pay a recurring fee regardless of the balance. Their systems are not clever enough to wait until you spend something on the card before levying the charge.

    They don't know that you won't put £500 on the card tomorrow and be made redundant the day after.
    loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.

    Are you sure it's PPI? Sound more like a CPP (card protection) type product to me - an annual payment.

    £44.99 sounds very high for a credit card PPI. As zx81 says above, it may not be PPI but CPP. You can tell if it appears monthly or just once (a year).

    And if it is CPP it may have been charged to a different card previously. If the original card no longer exists these people reserve the right to get their pound of flesh from any of your cards that they are aware of. It's in the T&Cs.
