during the snow and ice I have knocked my wheels out of alignment on my rover 25, what sort of price would I be looking to pay?

As im a female who has to go on my own im anxious not to get ripped off for something that seems like it should be simple.

    £20 up to £250

depends on where you go, what alignment service is carried out etc

How do you know it's the tracking thats out and not buckled wheel?

If you've rammed the wheel into a kurb given the poor weather you may find that the track rod end/inner tie rod could be bent and therefore no amount of alignment will put it right
If Adam and Eve were created first
.Does that mean we are all inbred

If it seems like it should be simple, perhaps you should have a go at doing it yourself?

Of course you'll be fully aware that to do the job properly needs castor and camber angles checking and how to use laser alignment equipment, done as a four wheel alignment and if its out whether it should be toe'd in or toe'd out depending if its FWD or RWD and by how much and how to compensate for a slight misalignment of the rear end? Oh, and I naturally assume you know how to use oxy-acetylene welding gas equipment for freeing off the usually seized adjusters....

    Simple, innit?

Would you even know what the numbers in the manual meant?

    Thought not.

So the ones I do on my car with a piece of wood, two triangles of hardboard and a marker pen doesn't work?

Getting back to the question you asked. If it is possible to adjust the tracking to bring it back to correct alignment around £25 for starters!
If anything is bent beyond repair or adjustment! Then it would be the price to buy the part and the labour to fit it. Then the alignment. So a guesstamate would be difficult! it depends on the damage done.

...some years ago my Brother in Law slid into a kerb sideways (in snowy/icy conditions) at no more than 10mph in an almost new Ford Fiesta. There was no visible damage, but some wheel vibration led him to get the car checked ... not only were the wheels out of alignment, the body shell had been knocked out of true and the car was indeed written off as uneconomic to repair.

National Tryres were good when I used them. Had one of those vouchers but one of the tracking rods was seized so they couldn't complete the alignment so they didn't charge me a penny. They still aligned all the other wheels and the car drove alot better even with that. Had to take to the garage to get the other wheel fixed.
