Paying cash onto my credit card

Options
hello,
i have a silly question, i paid some money into my bank on wednesday morning for my credit card. Since then i have been keeping a eye on the online statement, but nothing has shown up, and silly me has ordered some online things, thinking that paying cash in would go straight onto my card!!
does anyone know how long it usually takes for cash paid in to be put onto the card? the card is from the alliance and leciester by the way.
thanks in advance x

Not sure but would say three working days normally. The bank has to transfer the money to the credit card company.
    I'm married now! Yippee!
  • Don't they say to allow 4, or is it 5, working days for payments to reach your card? Unless you paid in at an A & L branch, in which case it might be less (eg Barclaycard payments made online at Barclays reach account same day & presumably cash too if paid in at Barclays branch).

Thanks for asking this question, I've been panicking for the last two days as the online bank transfer I made to my Barclaycard on Tuesday is still not showing up on my credit card.

Now I know it can be 4 or 5 working days I can stop panicking.

It should state somewhere on your banks website how long it can take to complete a transfer, most warn you at some part of the process that it is not going to be instant.

I've only ever done the online transfer thing once before and that was into my daughter's bank account and she is with the same bank and branch as me so it was done almost instantly then.

I was just worried that I may have made an error entering the details but they have said to phone them back on Monday and if the money hasn't shown up then they will chase it for me.

I'm a very new credit card holder, trying to rebuild my credit rating so I really don't want anything to mess this up :(

They've been very helpful and patient with me though, I haven't spoken to one miserable, unhelpful person yet.
