Has anyone cancelled a Hotelopia booking after using Quidco?

I had booked a hotel room for April that we aren't able to use now. The Hotelopia site said no cancellation fee if done before 31/3 so I cancelled it today. It cancelled it successfully but said it was unable to process a refund due to a problem with the amount and to ring Customer Services. I did so and they said I needed to ring back tomorrow to talk to someone who can deal with the "UK market".

I'm assuming it's because I booked through Quidco... will they just deduct the cashback from my refund? I obviously have no problem with that, I fully intended to use the room, but things changed.

The woman spoke really poor English and I found it very hard to understand her, what are the chances of getting a British person tomorrow? Or will they still be based somewhere overseas?

the cash back from quidco wouldnt come from the company directly so shouldnt affect your booking. cashback is paid by another company and though transactions are supposed to be linked they always tell you that the companies cant help with cash back.
