The weight is supposedly unchanged though:geordie_joe wrote: »They may be the same size, but the grooves mean you get less OXO. There's no OXO where the grooves are.

Right. As I say, I checked the two boxes. The weights were the same.0 -
Premier says the stock will be more compacted so customers get the same weight per block, despite the volume lost by making the notches.
So does that work then, because they also say
In its place, the makers are producing an X-shaped block of stock that they say will be easier to break up between the fingers.
Surely the more compact it is the harder it will be to break up.
How hard is it to break an OXO cube anyway?

In that case you're not checking the same boxes as me
Oxo 6 Chicken Stock Cubes 35G
Yet my box of 24 cubes, not X shaped, weighs 142G
According to my calculator 24 / 6 = 4.
So 4 * 35g = 140g.
Where did the other 2G go?
Check the supermarket web sites, the 6 pack X shaped ones weigh 35G while the 24 pack square ones weigh 142G0 -
Maybe they've made the X-shaped ones smaller later on? The two boxes I had, when they first changed shape, were the same weight.0

Oh yes the incredible shrinking products its not new but it appears to be getting worse0

True, though TBH I've sometimes wondered why it doesn't come pre-crumbled in a tub, so you'd just use a teaspoon. I'd hazard a guess that people would then use more than they need, so it'd be to the manufacturers advantage.geordie_joe wrote: »How hard is it to break an OXO cube anyway?Stompa0 -

Ah interesting! In my defence it does say "A new range of stock granules..."![Deleted User] wrote:great idea,

I noticed the grooves on the Oxo cubes too! I don't think the granules are more compacted- still as crumbly as ever.
The .5 gram or whatever it is per pack doesn't make much difference to the customer, but when you're producing hundreds of thousands of the little brown cubes it soon adds up.
Had to send back a half empty pack of Mint Poppets the other week. Definitely short changed on that packet! Paynes were very nice though and sent me a nice voucher
