It is their way of 'rewarding' their customers by trying(and succeeding) in pulling a fast one on them. Also is one of many techniques developed over recent years by the supermarkets to fool people into thinking they are getting a bargain.
  • Hi,
Same price for 400g of cheese when it was 500g less than a month ago.

20% reduction in weight, so actually a 20% price rise.

Oh, has anyone noticed the wee grooves in OXO cubes now, is that a weight reduction, 'cos can see any other reason for them.

Ah, no. Oxo cubes are the same size! I wondered this myself, but found an old box at the back of the cupboard the other day, and checked.

I couldn't help but notice the difference in the size of the pate at Asda this weekend. What is normally a 200g tub is now 175g. Like the VAT, only in reverse!

No it's worse, a 20% reduction in weight equates to a 25% price increase.

They may be the same size, but the grooves mean you get less OXO. There's no OXO where the grooves are.

oh well, in that case, there's no Aero in the bubbles.
