Halifax credit application (online) - when do I hear if I have been accepted?

Hi all,

I applied for a Halifax Credit Card online last night, my 'Instant Decision' was

"Thank you for your application for a Halifax Credit Card, which is now being processed.

We'll contact you within the next 10 working days."

Why do I have to wait 2 weeks to hear even I've even been accepted?

Your application is being processed and they will contact you within 10 days.

It means that the computer can't make a decision and they need a human being to decide if they want you as a customer or not and then they will write to you.

Hi,
Thanks for your response, I thought as much, I just wanted to check.
Is it a bad sign that the computer can't decide? Or if it was a definite no would the computer have said no instantly?

If it was a definite no it would have been declined. Generally it goes to underwriting if there are details they can't confirm, your income is close to your expenditure etc. Just have to wait and see.

When you apply, the computer will either decide "Yes", "No", or "Maybe".

If this outcome is "Maybe", then as others have said, it will require a real human to look at your application and make a decision.
