Hi, I applied for one this week - fairly confident as I think my credit rating is OK - and got a different email reply from Clarabell's. Mine says:

    Dear xxxx

Thank you for applying for the new &MORE Credit Card, the only card to be
seen with and the only credit card you'll ever need.

We endeavour to offer our Internet customers a speedy response therefore,
you will be contacted with a decision by post shortly.

Please accept our apologies for the short delay.

    Yours sincerely,

    Customer Services
    Marks & Spencer Money

I'm worried now that I've been refused as I didn't get the other email. Darn!

Does anyone know how strict M&S are with their credit scoring?

I have decided to stop tarting with the cards because I have been through so many and it is now getting very hard to get free balance transfers as you know. I tried to BT to Barclaycard as they had a fixed for the life of the loan offer at the time with free BT. I got less than a thousand on that and I needed to transer nearer 6000. So when I applied for M&S card, I put my partner on as an additional card holder and got 7000. So is there a significant other you can add to your application - it just might make a bit of difference.

PS does anyone know what type of card a Barclaycard is - Mastercard etc. I want to transfer this balance now to M & S and it is one of the questions they ask. Like a dedicated follower of Martin's Money Tips I cut up the Barclaycard when I made the transfer and now I can't remember what it was!

Can M&S access other HSBC group credit card details e.g. credit limits.

M&S don't provide the &More card - it is HSBC. So one assumes the answer to your question is 'yes'?
In November 2004, Marks & Spencer sold M&S Money to HSBC, one of the world's largest banking and financial services organisations with over 10,000 offices in 76 countries and territories. Marks & Spencer and HSBC have entered into a 50:50 profit sharing partnership.

If the account number starts with a 4 its a Visa and 5 its a Mastercard

    Thanks Phoenix79 - you are a star!
  • I got my &more card today and received a credit limit of £3000, well more than I was expecting. Previously I have only been offered between £1000-£1500!
    Well chuffed!

Well HSBC can't see M&S details/limits so i'm guessing you will be ok

HSBC provide the card so they could look at your existing HSBC accounts when deciding if you can have the M&S card, and equally be able to see details of your M&S card.

Has anyone that is not on the Electoral roll being accepted for &More? Does anyone think I stand a chance of getting one(my home country is not one of those that gives you eligibility for listing - major pain!)

I was turned down and think it was because I'm not on the electoral roll until it updates in December. Hope that helps

Not from what I have seen at work. Probably gives you a clue who i work for! ;)
  • I've had FD, marbles & M&S cards on the go at the same time & as far as I could ascertain, they operate separate systems. Ring FD you speak to people in Leeds, M&S in Chester, HSBC in Bangalore, etc.
