The O2, Manchester MEN Arena - Bad Fear of Heights

I have a really bad fear of heights, but I want to go and see a concert that will be at the O2 and the Manchester MEN. 2nd problem is that I am only 5'2. Which venue do you think would be more suitable for me.

I dont want to spend money on a ticket and then not be able to watch it because I am a) having a heart attack b) frozen to the spot trying to just get in the building
Debt free since July 2013! Woo hoo! The bank actually laughed when I said I have come in to cancel my overdraft.

Try ringing the venue - they are usually v helpful.

i booked to go and see Lionel Richie at the MEN in 2007 (not realising how bad my mum's fear of heights were) in the upper part of the lower tier - my mum was in tears and couldn't even go near the top of the stairs - we went round to CS and they found two spare seats in the lower part of the upper tier and they let us use the lift to get down to it - couldn't have been more helpful. :money:
Using my phone to post - apologies in advance for any typos
  • Out of the 2 go to the MEN. Both are high, but the O2 is higher. You want lower tier seating ideally though, because although the MEN isnt as high as the O2, its still steep.

  • And yes, if you have a fear of heights, the MEN keep some seats aside. They are usually very good seats too. Just pop to customer services once you've actually had your ticket scanned and entered the arena.

Thank you very much. Manchester MEN it is then. I cant deal with steep very well. As I discovered when I had tickets for the back row at the Ice Hockey in Coventry (the stress of that caused me physical pain for a whole week) and then when we got tickets to our local Theatre, when I managed to get to my seat, but because it was very steap, I last a whole of 30 seconds before I started ranting, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO I cant do it, and had a mini panic attack before being re-seated by St Johns Ambulance! hehehehe

I dont think I can book direct with the arena, so should I just phone Ticketmaster and explain the situation to them?

You can't book direct but they will be able to alleviate your fears :)

  • You can book direct with the MEN, they have a box office outside and a direct phone number which I have used frequently. But yes, the MEN would be better for you! I'm not adverse to heights but found the O2 a little scary!

We booked 02 in the end, but got seat in block 110 row G or something, so I am convincing myself that will be ok. thanks for your help and advice.

For people who are afraid of heights I would say definitely not the top tier of the 02. Was in the lower tier of the 02 and looked up and thought - I wouldn't like to be up there!

Also for anyone who wants to see Phantom of the Opera on the West End - don't do the balcony, that is scary!

I'm hoping Wembley Arena is ok for upper tier - I'm going there next Saturday for My Chemical Romance, and want to jump up and down singing, but if it's too steep I might be too scared to! I'll let you all know!
