How to get refund for postage?

Didnt know where to post this.
I bought an item off superdry, the item was damaged so i sent it back to them using an insured delivery service.
They told me I can get a refund for postage for a faulty product.
They recieved the item and refunded me but when i asked about the postage, they said i had to call a number and do it over the phone as they dont store my details.
Is this safe?
