carers question

hi all.
i am wondering if you could help me regarding carers allowence.
my partner is currently recieving disability (middle care, low mobility) (but has other health issues which once formally diagnosed will probably increase these). we claim esa as a couple.
i have been told that as i am his carer i can claim carers allowence on top of what we currently recieve.
but i have also been told that whatever i am awarded in carers allowence gets deducted from our ESA or disaility
just wondering if i recieve it on top of our benefits or will it be deducted from other benefits. i am thinking there is no point claiming it if it just gets deducted elsewhere.
hope someone can shed light on this if they are in a similar position.
many thanks

It does get deducted from ESA, but you then get a carers' premium of £30 per week.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked
