Voters roll

Good afternoon fellow moneysavers

I have recently applied to become registered to vote with my local council (just one of those things I've never got around to doing), I'm still on the voters roll at my previous address but for the first time I actually want to apply for a credit card with a 0% rate and so I figured I ought to do my best to make sure my credit rating is as good as it can be.

I applied for a Halifax Clarity card successfully without being on the voters roll and I also bank with First Direct (again, account opened without being on the voters roll) so I guess it can't be hurting me that much.

I have just called my local council who said I will be put on it on 1st February (assuming they received my application) so my question is this:

If I apply for a 0% credit card in February will they definitely see me as being on the voters roll? I'm aware that too many applications make me look desperate for credit so I'd rather only make an application once I'm on it.

Many thanks for any replies.

Probably need to leave it to the end of the month. You will appear on the council electoral register from 1 February. At some point in February (once a month) that is then sent to the credit reference agencies, its not until after that you'll show as being on with regards to credit applications. If you want to be certain then check your credit report say 25 Feb and see if its been updated yet.

My local council told me I would appear on 4th January when they sent their update to the CRAs - I didn't then or all that week so contacted CreditExpert who amended my file for me. If you're not on by the end of Feb I would recommend doing that.

According to my local council's website, it says the electoral register was published on 1 December.

Therefore, I assume the credit reference agencies will have completed he upload before the end of this month.
