Hi
My mother claims pension credit, she is 63 years old. Someone mentined to her if she was interested in working a few hours, 15 hours a week actually , this wouldn't affect any of her pension credit income.
IS THIS CORRECT??

If she is doing paid work it will affect her pension credit. She will have to let them know she is working.World of Warcraft Widow No 10

Thanks for the reply. So no problems with letting them know. It is only about £70.00 a week but says it gets her out of the house. Would they deduct anything from her pension credit. ?????:A Tomorrow's just another day - keep smiling0 -
Yes they will deduct her earnings from pc £60.00.World of Warcraft Widow No 10

Don't forget that Pension Credit ( the guaranteed part) is a passport to a number of other benefits which she may not want to lose eg Housing Benefit, Council Tax Benefit, eligibility for legal aid - and others. It is not something I would easily give up, if I were getting it.0

I do voluntary work which gets me out of the house and meeting all sorts of people. It doesn't cost me anything except my time - and as I don't earn anything it does not affect any benefits or income tax . That might be a better option?0

Working would effect the amount of Pension Credit paid to her, for a single person they would disregard £5 of earnings, £10 for a couple and depending on circumstances could disregard up to £20.
If she does decide to work she should notify the Pension Service.0 -
