I am a happy grandpa of 6 children. It is the most beautiful thing that happened to me since my last child. Congratulations to you, your husband and your parents!
  • Thanks everyone!

We're not quite sure but by my calculations we should be due mid September, so a loooooong way to go! :D

Funnily enough the night before we did the tests I watched that programme and I was scared to death but at the same time thought, nah, it can't be that bad! One of my friends had two kids without gas and air or anything, whereas the other one had 2 horrific labours and is going back for a third! :A

It's our first so i'm a bit scared, but i'm sure once i've been to the doc and done my reading i'll be fine!

  • obiviously child birth is very different for every woman. But I have to say, I didnt think it was as bad as I thought it would be. BUT I do recommend going to ante natal classes, just so you know what will happen/pain relief options and for support.

I had gas and air and water birth.

try not to read birthing stories at all as hardly anyones ever goes exactly how they would want it!! Everyone will always offer theirs and some people take great delight in making it sound as horrific as possible which will only lead to your anxiety.

Definately DO read up on the different process involved though so you know whats going on and feel in control whilst you're in there. Stuff like the different forms of delivery, birthing positions, forms of pain relief, stuff you can do in early labour (TENS, walks, baths etc). Also read up on what to expect after birth in terms of bleeding, cramps and all that good stuff - i think its important to know what to realistically expect so you can prepare yourself, your supplies and your partner so he can support you more.

That is great news though, congrats!

congratulations :) if you have holiday insurance when u booked your holiday, you might be insured for cancellation due to pregnancy. good luck childbirth isnt that bad or we would all have just the one, (mummy to 2 boys) x
  • Congratulations to you both. :T
I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.

  • That's weird, we're off to Alicante in June! I was bummed about cancelling Turkey in Sep (we're huge holiday bunnies) but it'll be worth it! ;)

By mid June i'll be around 27 weeks so all i'll need for Jet2 is a letter from my doc saying i'm fit to travel, so fingers crossed! :)

I'm actually feeling pretty rubbish right now but I know it'll pass. I'm so exhausted and nauseous....and also really upset that the mere thought of Pizza makes me want to hurl, and it's my favourite food!

My close friends know now, as do my bosses at work, one had a baby last year so she's been great.
