Delta SkyClub lounges at JFK and Air France lounge at Manchester

Flying economy with my wife from Manchester T2 to JFK T3 soon with Delta/KLM. At MAN I’m not bothered about a lounge but after a long day in NY, my wife would like to use a lounge at JFK to freshen up before our night flight home.

I was looking at paid airport lounge options and there’s something at MAN but not JFK but…

Delta has 3 “SkyClub” lounges at JFK T3. A one day pass is $50 each however a 30 day pass is $90 each but the holder can bring 2 guests. So I’m thinking that one of us buys the 30 day pass and brings the other as a ‘guest’ saving us $10 (no guests on 1 day pass)

But… (again)

Delta has reciprocal agreements with other airlines and a 30 day SkyClub member is allowed access (plus guests) to Air France lounges (amongst others). Coincidentally, MAN T2 has an Air France lounge ;)

So I’m thinking that for $90/£60 we can access Air France lounge at MAN T2 on the way out and then Delta SkyClub at JFK T3 on the return.

And maybe even an Air France lounge at Paris CDG even when flying with Easyjet on another planned trip (but not checked terminals and lounges if that’s feasible)

Does all that sound bonkers or might it actually work? If so, what is the AF lounge at MAN T2 like? (I think the Delta at JFK T3 are ok)

Or any better ideas to get in the Delta lounge at JFK on the way back for less than 60quid?
I spend less than I earn and if I can't afford it I don't buy it. I'm guessing that makes me a money saver.

  • The Delta Lounge at JFK is nothing to write home about imho. OK if it comes as a freebie when flying business class or if you have the requisite frequent flyer status, but not worth £60 for two.

Personally, I'd get a bite & a drink & some change from one of the bars and restaurants near the gates.

Nor are the AF biz lounges at CDG or MAN. ;)

Don't know about MAN, but agree re. CDG. I try to avoid CDG altogether if I can - it's easily the worst laid-out large airport I know.

Agreed, but if ever you get the chance to visit the first class lounge at CDG I would definitely make an exception - it is heaven, and you never actually have to see anyone out your little first class bubble! ;)

  • The AF lounge at T2 is a horrible hole. With free papers and booze. It may be worth looking in, but it's not a place to spend more than 1/2 hour in. I spend my time in T2 at Cafe Nero (was Starbucks), or at one of the other lounges using a Priority Pass card - which would not be cost effective for you, unless you plan a lot of lounging this year.

Also, AF now fly out of T3 and the lounge is only used for partner airlines (KLM, Delta), so its long term future may not be assured.....

Have you priced up pay-per-use lounges in both NY and MAN - you may find they costs around £15 each per visit. Check it's in the correct terminal for you at JFK.

 I'm not expecting the Palace at Versailles.

The problem is that I can't find a 3rd party lounge at JFK T3, only the Delta and JFK is where I want a lounge, rather than MAN. I live v. close to MAN so not bothered about relaxing/re-grouping after a long trip to get there.

The point is that some lounges can be more stressful than the main terminal, AF and DL ones being prime examples. The DL/ now AF lounge at LAX is so bad that AF pay for their first class customers to use the Air New Zealand lounge!
