If they sent a SAE with the 'fine',why not send a sheet of toilet paper to them in return..they can use that to dry their eyes...lol

A nice used piece of bog roll would be good...:p

  • I can't say too much as it may make me identifiable, but I had dealings with Meteor when they were owned by Go-Ahead. They were an absolute nightmare, difficult to contact anyone by phone so I hate to think of what they must be like to deal with if you were unlucky enough to get a ticket from them.
  • I have had the exact same problem as Cocotown. I received a letter on 29-12-10 from Roxburghe Debt Collectors for an 'Unpaid Parking Charge' issued to my veichle in a car park i frequently use in Carlisle owned by Car Parking Management Cumbria. The letter sates i owe £103, there is no description of the aparent offence just:

    reason: Not Valid ((Reason 22))
    Total Amount: £103

I have never knowing received a parking ticket, unless someone has removed it from my car?!! Anyway when i got the first letter (before i read up on the internet anout Roxburghe) in a panic i wrote a letter to them stating i had never knowing received a parking ticket, i also asked them to provide photographic evidence as when i type my reg and reference number into their website it conveniently cannot find the image and asks me to leave my phone number (which i'm obviously not going to do).
Any way, so i have never received a reply from Roxburghe debt collectors i did think prehaps thats the last i would hear from them, until today.... i have received a letter from Graham White Solicitors demanding the £103 i apparently owe for not paying a fine or they will summon me to court.
So basically from reading loads of website forums the vast majority say this is a huge scam and after 2 or 3 letters from Graham White i will not hear from them again. Does everyone agree this is the right thing to do, just ignore and they will move on to another poor victim?
I am going to report them to the trading standards agency tomorrow, something needs done against these companies that use harrasment and bullying tactics to force people to pay unfair (or in my case made up) fines!!!!

Any advice is much appreciated! i really dont want the hassle of this or debt collectors knocking at my door

    Thanks

Yes, let me be the first to reply and speak for us all on here - the regulars anyway. Ignore the Roxburghe & Graham White letters. If they get your phone number as well (from DVLA or public records) then DO speak to them, to tell them the debt is denied and that any further contact would be harassment. But don't ring them back, waste of your time and money.

Debt collectors do not knock on your door, that's bailiffs (different animal, not relevant so nowt to fret about). There is no hassle when you know what they can and cannot do, and how to report it.

And do report them to everyone you can think of - if you can guess which car park it was in then complain strongly to the on site retailers/services for allowing an agent to harass a customer. Harassment & reporting info here:

    http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/england_wales/factsheet.php?page=03_harassment

You have nothing to worry about but they do if there are enough complaints. Complain about Roxburghe to Trading Standards, your MP, Office of Fair Trading and any other debt collector-related suggestions on that link. Report Graham White to the SRA (yet again - they have a file on them).

And complain about the PPC as I said, if you know who they are and can work out which retailer is allowing them to carry out their parasitical proctection racket on their site. Many complaints to Store Managers WILL get PPCs kicked out in some cases.
