Hi
Off to Egypt in 4 weeks and was thinking of taking Egypt money only and obviously credit card.
Any other ideas?
I read you can only take £500 worth of money, is this correct?
As I was thinking of taking £700 but this is between 2 of us, is the £500 per person or per couple?
I know this as probably been asked many times, so I apologise in advance!

you usually get a better rate for your currency in Egypt we just took £100 worth and the rest in English and changed it as we needed it and got much more for our money ps take plenty of hand sanitiser to use when youve handled the money!!! sam Also they dont accept scottish notes or small change0

They take Egyptian pound, sterling, usd even euros! I used it all when there.
They will take anything and yes, you can get a better rate usually over there.
Take coins even 50ps and £1 for tips etc - you may find that the reps offer to change their sterling tips ie (50p/£1) for notes.0 -
We were there in November, and their first reaction when asked a price was English pounds or Egyptian pounds. If I went again I would definitely take sterling, with just a few Egyptian pounds to keep us going. I took dollar travellers cheques on someone's advice, but I should definitely have taken sterling in those too. Also, the exchange rate really is a lot better over there.
Never heard of the £500 limit though, but we did take less cash than that, if it counted travellers cheques too then we would definitely have been over that. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0
