Ending Item - Reserve Not Met

Morning all,

Just a very quick question for you; I currently have an old mobile running on ebay (2 days left of a 10 days listing) and it's not looking likely that it's going to meet the reserve price quoted.

Before listing on ebay I did look at the 'Sell Old Mobiles' checker on the main site and I could have got more than the reserve from them, but having done some research on other ebay listings I thought the chances were I could exceed, so went for it.

Is it now possible to remove the listing? There have been bids but the reserve hasn't been met.

Will I still incur my listing fees (was a £0.99 start price only but the reserve will cost £4ish I think)?

TIA

You can remove the listing. You'll need to remove the bids and give a reason why. If you put end listing early into Ebays help, it'll tell you how to do it.

    You will pay listing fees.

I wouldn't end it - the mobiles category is huge and people often find what they want on the first page, and therefore your item may get more bids in the last few hours than it will in the 9 days leading up to it. I've sold things like that before and once my item got to the top of the search, the bidding went ballistic after sitting at a very low price for most of the time it was listed.

You don't have to sell if the reserve isn't met. If it is, then you have to sell it. Chances are it will go for what people believe it is worth given your listing and description.

Ending the listing won't put you in a better situation, as you will not get a fee credit.

Hmm, food for thought indeed, thanks for this Crowqueen.

I must admit I didn't even think of this, I just thought with it being way off that there was little chance, but if there's going to be no benefit to me cancelling then I may as well just leave it and see where it ends.

If it doesn't get there I can recycle afterwards, if it does I'm happy with that
