bumped and scratched my car!

I had a nasty surprize yesterday when i got back to my new 10 plate VW polo and it had been dented and scratched on two doors!! It had been parked in a private car park in my very own car space... i have looked for cameras but cant see any?? Do i just claim off my insurance and throw away 5 years no claims??or do i foot the bill? not that i want to pay at all! i want justice, this loser needs to pay!!

thanx gemma

It would be worth checking but unless they are ultra honest as you say they probably wont admit it!
Worth ago to avoid making a claim.

However you wont lose 5 years NCD if you claim. they will reduce it by two years!
  • i would just leave it as your bound to get more knocks and marks then you can get it all done in a year or so

It is worth doing a comparison search for a renewal insurance based on the reduced NCB and one claim. At least them you'll have an idea of what the hike in premiums is likely to be.

Remember you will also have an excess to pay, so the repairs won't be cost free even if you do make a claim.

It may be worth asking around for recommendations for a good local bodyshop and getting a quote before deciding to go through the insurance company.

  • friend had a her new golf keyed on two doors and front wing and that was £890 to get repaired but a private bodyshop would be less
  • just seems so wrong that someone out there is going to get away with doing this to something that i worked so hard to get!! I am sooooooo angry!!

Shouldn't be too hard to spot the other car...... They probably park nose first into spaces, which is why they dragged their bumper down your car on the way out.
