Barclaycard F+F Please Help!

Well basically I have a barclaycard cc and have defaulted as I am unable to pay the monthly payments. I am a fulltime university student and have no income other than student loans which only cover my accomadation and food so i have little left over to pay anything else.

I Owe £2900 and I wrote to them offering £1000 as a final settlement as y boyfriend is willing to give me the money. I recieved a reply from Mercers saying that they may accept if I can increase my offer and to ring them by tmrw.

I'm just wondering if anyone knows what they will likely say as Im not very experienced with these matters and worried they are gonna get me to give them more money than i can afford but not write the rest of the debt off.

Do I need to ask them to send me an offer in writing?
