Barclaycard Platinum Questions...

Hi there,

I've just been accepted for a 'Barclaycard Platinum with Purchase' credit card, and I had a couple of quick questions to make sure that I get the best out of the card.

On the details page, the 'Summary Box' states that there is an Introductary rate of:

0% for 12 months from account opening

However the 'Interest Free Period' states:

Maximum 56 days from date of transaction for purchases if you pay your balance in full and on time each month.


No interest free period on cash advances or balance transfers (this is subject to any interest free promotional offer).

Am I right in saying that the 0% offer period over-rides the standard 'Interest Free Period', as long as i make atleast the minimum payments each month, and clear the balance before the 12months from account opening is up???

The intention is to use the card as a monthly spender for Fuel costs, which I'd clear each month, but I may also put some larger purchases on there which i'd spread over a few months...

Would this approach work for maintaing the interest free period and ensuring that i get the best out of the card and avoid paying interest?

hi there - have been accepted for the barclaycard platinum, but it wasn't straight away on the internet. Instead they said they would inform me later by post - and I was successful. But my problem is in the literature they have sent me, there is nothing to say about the 16/17 months interest free. Is this normal??

Can't remember what happened in my case. But I'm pretty sure I was able to log on and see the offer there. Certainly recent offers have been available online.
