Finding out old agreement number etc

I'm thinking of looking into reclaiming PPI on a loan I finished paying back in 2005, but I have no records of Credit agreement or number (to eager with the shredder). Can I get this from the bank? how would I go about this? The bank is Halifax, and I have changed address since (if that matters).
thanks in anticipation.

You don't need it. Just write to them with your complaint and they will do the leg work.

    Thanks,
Is there a template letter I can use? I was thinking of using moneyclaimers.co.uk. Had an advert through from nhs discounts. I know I could do it all myself but I have so much on at the moment I just dont have the mental energy to think to much about it. Are they reputable (as far as a claims company can be.) or are there any better companies? according to the ad they would take 20%. Ive got 2 loans to claim on, the one from 2005, and another that I am still paying off from 2007.
    Thanks for your advice.

    Hi there

In my personal opinion i think its just as easy to do this yourself with help from this site all free, its just a matter of completing the reclaiming questionnaire, this replaced the template letter on this site, complete and send to whoever set up your policy from the start, if they have a complaints dept then send to them, or their head office.

They normally have 8 weeks, but may ask for more time, but should keep you informed.
The questionnaire you will find on link below as stage one of the reclaiming procedures.

    Good luck.

I would try and find the number as the lender will just write back and say they cannot find you on the system, do you have an account number?

and they will send that after a few weeks... delay tactics.

Easiest way is to go to the many online credit checking sites like experian or credit check and get it from there.

    Good luck.

One way of tracking down the account number is, if you bank with the same bank and have online banking where the monthly repayments used to come out of, this should allow you to go back maybe 7 years, its normally shown next to the monthly repayment, good luck.
