no claims bonus

my husbands insurance is due end of Jan, for a short time last feb he had 2 vehicles, the old one he sold had 6 years no claims on it, while the new vehicle he insured as he got it a month before selling the other will only have one years no claims. when we renew insurance on the only vehicle we now have in January can he use the 6 years no claims. Thanks

    As long as you've got "proof of no claims" from the Insurer i can't see why not.

    I always thought NO claims bonuses stayed with the driver and not the car though. Unless you stop insuring a car period then the bonuses still accrue

    thanks for your reply, yes they do stay with a driver, but if you need to insure a second vehicle in the same name you start again, we were originally going to keep both vehicles, but changed our minds after a couple of weeks

    Oh right,

    I've never insured more than one car at a time tbh. Will the insurance co not inform you of what's what?

    Maybe best from them as it's what they do

    Yes, you can use the 6 years no claims, providing it is less than two years old.
    Shop round for a new policy, then send them the proof of the 6 years ncd.

    Yes he will be fine, you can only use your no claims on one policy at a time, but seeing that he sold his other car just get proof of no claims and swap it over.
