When my Child Tax Credit ends

When the government first introduced this scheme, which seemed like a good idea at the time!!!....I opted into it, since then it has become compulsory...however...
...at first my husband was deducted £200 from his wages each month and I subsequently received £42.10...(which is the £545 per year)....(big question mark over this as you will see the sums do mot add up...I phoned and asked where the other £168 has gine and DWP said it just got swallowed up and no-one could give me an answer so I left it...stupid I know but how can you stop them taking the money anyway when my husband is PAYE?????
..what I want to know is...when my son leaves school this year...will my husbvand receive that £200 per month back in his paypacket?...or am I justexpected to roll over and forget about it again....

can anyone help with this one please because DWP don`t seem to knowwhat they are doing.....no change there then!!!!!

Thanks in advance...

Jonee..xx

If your husband told you he was paying £200/month to tax credits he was lying to you.If you mean he was paying £200/month in income tax I think you will find it covers a little more than tax credits.

I assume you are saying your husbands pay reduced by £200/month in 2003 when you made a claim for the new tax credits?

Prior to that year Childrens Tax credit was administered via the tax code applied to the higher earner. That has now stopped and there are no plans to reintroduce it so when your son leaves school your husband will not pay any less tax than he currently does.
