Question about Credit Rating

in Credit cards
I posted this message in the phones board but I think my problem is more about my credit rating, and most talk of that is in here.
I was rejected for a new phone by osps and orange even though I have a phone already with them and the bill is always paid. I have no debt except student loan and an allowed student overdraft.
Within the last few weeks BT have done a credit check on me, no problems, and I think aol probably done one, no problem there.
Does anyone know why then Orange would have said no?
I have recently moved house, is there a chance the bad rating is something to do with the rating on the house, e.g. of previous tenants?
Or could too many recent checks be a problem? as I have recently moved I have had to get a few various checks to set things up.

you do need to ask why they declined you but everything you have said could be a possibility, recently moved so will not be on voters roll at current add, recent searches by BT and AOL
please don't get too deep into "credit rating" as every company assess differently and the so-called credit scores shown by the credit reference agencies mean nothing.0 -
Maybe they think that one contract is enough for you at the moment?0

Ok, thanks Newone.
I've contacted osps to ask why. I think i'll probably have to ask orange, but as I ordered through osps I don't have any reference details for orange, so i'll see what osps reply with first.0 -

Did cross my mind, but they get their money every month so I don't see why they wouldn't allow another. I thought having one contract paid every month would be a good thing.
Plus the address on my old contract is still my old address (haven't got round to changing it yet), so I'm not sure they know its the same person0 -

This is most likely your problem. If you have moved address, not told your current supplier, don't you think they are going to find this strange?
Are you on teh electoral roll at the new address?
Have you informed any other financial institutions that you have moved?
If your credit file shows you are only linked to your old address, how do you expect to be offered services at an address that you appear not to have any connection to?Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

Yep, all banks and credit card have been moved to the new address, only the orange contract i haven't got round to changing yet.
I'll call Orange today to change it and ask about the other contract while i'm at it.0 -
I contacted orange and changed the address, don't know if its worth trying again with the new address or if that will just make it worse by adding another check on my name.
Asked why it was rejected and they said they don't have that information.0 -
I had couple of contracts with Orange and they never did a credit check on any of my additional contracts. The only credit check was done on my first one. The last one was opened about 7 months ago so not sure if they have changed there policy recently.
