Group holiday to Oz in Oct/Nov

There is a fair sized group of us travelling over to Australia (Sydney) last two weeks of October & First week of november (roughly) to go to a friends wedding and to see the sights & sounds that Australia has to offer. We're not certain on exact numbers yet, definitely at least 8 of us, probably more.

We're trying to get some good deals on accommodation and flights that can accomodate some flexibility on some people traveling at slightly different times and allowing for some movement within Oz.

Would anyone know a good way to go about it? Is it best to approach the australian travel agents (do they have domestic travel agents? Given the size of the country, I would have thought they might) or to use the ones over here? I have sent a few emails to agents but just wondering on any general advice to get a good deal (our current thinking is to try and secure a discount if everyone books flights & accomodation through a selected agent).

  • It may be worth googling serviced apartments as there are a number of these in Sydney which would probably suit a group better than hotel rooms. Off the top of my head there is Metro near Darling Harbour, the Napoleon on Kent (cheap as its under the flyover to the bridge), World Tower.

Cheers, will take a look for some serviced apartments. Seen a couple of half decent deals so far and some which have been very very cheap but look pretty poor standard! Need to find something in the middle..
