Charges for leaving a company

My wife is getting a new car next week (newish) and we are going to cancel the policy with Swinton, but they have just told us the charge will be £76 to quit or £106 to change over for the next 7 months and stay with them.

But is this legal to be able to charge £76 to leave them?

Thanks

    Yes.

And you will have agreed to it when originally accepting the policy ts + cs when you bought it.

If you were to leave now you wouldn't get any NCD added for the part year if that makes the bitter pill of the extra £106 easier to swallow.

    Much appreciated
