Hi everyone,
im going to Oz next month for a few weeks, i havent flown since i was a very young child!
i am hoping u guys could answer a few queries for me:~
1) What am i allowed to put in suitcase regarding food (family out there want chocolate and pandrops)
2) whats not allowed in handluggage was hoping to take my knitting/crochet
3) i take a lot of prescription drugs do these go in luggage or handluggage?

Off the top of my head -

1. Why chocolate ?
2. No
3. Hand-baggage is fine.

Should be no problem with chocolate and pandrops (had to google - never heard of them before)

Needles in hand baggage a bit dodgy

prescription drugs - only problem I can think of is that some might be illegal in certain stopover countries - Dubai and the like

nothing wrong with chocolate.

knitting needles are a pointed object, and therefore banned. same goes for sharp objects.

prescription drugs (including liquids) are fine in hand luggage, but take a copy of prescription with you, just in case. this is for 2 reasons: 1. to get them through security & 2. in case you need extra supplies out in Oz.

Finally, have you got your ETA's?

This might sound daft but please declare the sweets on your entry card. There won't be a problem but the customs guys can and do fine you.
You can get a print out or a dr Note for the medication. Again just tick the box on the entry card.

you could contact your airline and find out if you would be allowed a plastic/bamboo crochet hook in your hand luggage.

Be very careful - even with prescription drugs - if you are transiting through Dubai. For example - anything with codeine is banned. Includes Tixylix! Get caught with this and you're in deep trouble.

is this right? I nearly completed a couple of forms yesterday for £20 each but decided to do it another day.

I remember paying about £12 5 years ago - so now we don't have to pay anything?

Correct - it's changed and is now free. The £20 site was probably an agent offering to do it for you for a fee. Use the link I provided and you should be on the right site.
