hi all,
I bought some bizzy-lizzies for the garden. I got them after the summer rush so they were marked down. While I was getting these, a fellow shopper told me these will regrow again.
I told me neighbour this, and he told me I should of took little snipets and kept them in water inside. Now I am confused!!!
The plants naturally died when the snow hit us, but will they resurace again, or shall I through them away, and get new plants in the summer months????

After even the mildest winter they die. They originally come(I think) from sub tropical jungles so are not able to survive the cold. I had 50 cuttings in a greenhouse heated to 10C and they still died.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Yep I'm afraid.
Don't be tempted to buy too soon ,G/centres try to convince you to buy new stock far to early for most people so be patient they will catch up.
Wait until the ground has warmed up a bit, imagine standing with your bare feet in the ground overnight.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -

They would have done if you'd kept them warm enough but they are very tender plants. The other way to overwinter them is to root cuttings in the autumn - they don't have to be kept in water - and pot them on when they start growing away in the Spring. The advantage of cuttings is that you can get a lot in a small space.
Alterntively, you can overwinter a couple of bigger plants indoors as house plants and take a load of cuttings in the Spring.0 -

It's going to be a very late Easter this year, so maybe for once the plants bought from the garden centre over the holiday weekend won't get frosted and die off!0
