Why are all my smiles not animated? Also non of the avatars are animated either.

Mine will be different to yours as I have the Pro edition. But if you double click the Red/Green icon on the bottom left of your screen. Click the tabs till you find an option to chose between High medium and Low level security, choose medium and you should be fine.
EDit: Just checked mine, i go to "Firewall" on the left which is under "Overview". I then click the tab "main" at the top then change the setting under "Internet Zone Security".:j Midmac Aka Crazy baby :j0 -
