Hi, my girlfriend's dad got the Sony BDV-E370 Home Theatre for Xmas and can't get the speakers to work when watching TV through his Virgin Box.
It works fine when watching DVD's but not TV.
I've checked the instructions and set it up correctly but still no sound.
He has a Sony Bravia TV and 2 HDMI leads, one connected from the TV to Virgin box and one from the TV to the Blu-Ray box.
It says in the booklet a digital optical cord may be needed, although a HDMI cable will be fine if the TV has Audio Return Channel Function. I would have thought the TV has this?
Hope someone can help me!:D

Im pretty sure the sony wont have a HDMI return
Connect via optical and itll be fine then:idea:0 -
Ok thank you.
Seems strange that you have to buy a seperate lead as it was expensive enough to begin with.
Could you send me a link with the sort of lead I would need. Many thanks.0 -
Something like this will do -
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Optical-Cable-Toslink-1M/dp/B00077DC5Q/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1294684913&sr=1-3
(by the way, the 'return hdmi' would mean you need a 3D tv, a 3D capable amp and a 1.4 HDMI. None of which I think you have):idea:0 -
Ok. Thanks. That seems cheap enough. Yeah its not a 3D tv. Thanks for your help0
