ford remote key problem

i have a Y reg focus and over the last week or so the efficiency of the remote key fob deteriorated and yesterday stopped working.
based on this i bought a new battery for the fob and still nothing.
i have to access the car the old fashioned way and actually use the key:mad:

can anyone suggest what may be the problem and how i can go about fixing it?

  • It may seem obvious but is the battery in the right way?is it the right battery?

Have you got another key and if so does that work? if not it could be an electrical problem with the car rather than the key.

Has the car battery been disconnected? if so the key may need reprogramming.

Failing this the key could be knackered.i am sure you will get many more suggestions too!!:D

  • in the key fob is a tiny fuse with 2 little metal prongs, which is connected to the circuit board this could have come away, hence not making a connection, this happened to us a few yrs back, it just needed soldering back together.
