Unless it specifically says its valid for 12 months (which share dividend cheques often say) then the cheque is valid for 6 years. It does go stale after 6 months however and when you try and pay it in the cashier might say its stale. You can insist however that they accept it, as you've got a lot of the 6 years left. When it goes through clearing its possible this will get picked up by the paying bank who might contact their customer to see if the cheque should be paid. You could always ask them to reissue it, but I see no problem in you getting this money. Good luck with it.

Cheques are legally valid for 6 years. But it is both common and accepted practise that they are rejected (if seen) after 6 months. And you cannot insist the Bank accept one which has passed the 6 month 'sell by'. The only informal moratorium on this is within the first few days of the new year - where cheques will generally be accepted if they are dated for Jan of the previous year.

Ask phones4u to re-issue with a currently dated cheque.

Well at lot of the old exminatio has gone by the board and £100 is a small amount these days and what is the risk to the bank. Therefore I am in no way surprised. It's a matter of risk assessment. Try it with an out of date lottery win jackpot cheque and see what happens:rotfl:
