Car Battery problem?

Hi,
Just done a 50 mile drive, came off the motorway and waited to pull out at an island. Just as I pulled out my car stopped and the oil and battery light came on and I was unable to move the car.
Thankfully I turned flicked the engine on and off with the keys and the car started again. The lights have not come on since in the 8 miles I continued to drive home.
My car went an MOT less than a month ago and the oil is fine. What could be the problem?
I know that I left the radio on by accident yesterday for around 7 hours. Could this have been a cause?
Many thanks!

sounds like the car either cut out, or you stalled it.
when both of those lights come on you are starting the car. so dont worry overly at the moment. just keep an eye on the car if it keeps stalling at moments when you come off the power it will need some attention at a garage0 -
is it a diesel ford or renault

Hi its a FORD KA (2001). I've never had any problems with it before. Maybe it could have just stalled?
Thanks0 -

MOT only means the car isn't going fall apart or cause an accident....
Other than that, it don't mean !!!!!!.
Common problem these days is that people skip routine maintenance and even servicing because the car has passed an MOT.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

i often drive a renault 2.0 TDi and if you have been travelling on the motorway and then proceed to slow down on the slip road as you get to about the 30 the engine will cut out i have found this to be the same on the 2litre mondeo. the only similar thing between them is they are both diesels
its a royal pain in the !!! the ford isnt to much of a pain but the renaults are always a pain to get started again the company have about 20 renaults and i drive a fair few of them. the guys that own the car hire place just say its a standard feature of renaults and fords.0 -

Wouldn't worry one jot about this. Sounds like the car stalled for some reason. Keep calm and carry on.Skip dipper and proud....0
